Driftwood, Debris and Messages in Bottles: Trawling through the Electronic Sea for Signs of the Edge of your World

This project involves an exploration of the idea of 'edges of the known world' by trawling through, critically interpreting and reworking images of alien realities (poverty, disaster, crisis situations) found through web searches.

The idea would be to stretch notions of the boundaries of the students experience of our times as constituted by mediatized realities of the world. The project will involve the development of conceptual tools with which to encounter the 'edges' of one's own awareness.

Lernziele

In practical terms, the project will be realized by working within 'Apna Opus', a software dedicated to the task of collaborative thinking and content generation using different media (text, sound, image), and most importantly of doing conceptual 'relating'. Apna Opus is a development of OPUS, produced at the Sarai Media Lab. Silvan Zurbruegg, who graduated from HGKZ and worked on both OPUS and Apna Opus with us at Sarai, will be with us to introduce the project and to demonstrate the working of Apna OPUS.

The project will involve interaction with members of the Raqs Media Collective
